Just came across this cartoon from 2007 in my archives and remembered how much I like it. So I thought I’d share it with thee.

Dan, I love this cartoon but there isn’t a one of your cartoons that I don’t like! They all say what we are thinking! There was a cartoon that I had seen years ago before I had met you. Maybe it was one of yours afterall, but it was of a scarecrow in a corn field with his arms stretched out on a ‘cross’ and two crows were looking up at him saying, “Some say he died for our sins.” Hilarious!
Being an obsessive detail-follower and lover of your little ‘easter eggs’, I have to wonder if you were making subtle messages in the placement of your icons… I see K2 and the little alien on God’s side, and the pie and the dynamite on Man’s side… (Also, that comic is rapidly becoming dated… is that a flip phone?)
Yes, a flip phone, which was the predominant style back then. Not sure if smart phones were out yet. I’m not up on the history of tech.
As for the placement of the icons, no special meaning was implied. But, as with all art, you’re welcome to your own interpretation! :o)
Hmmm… I didn’t realize that was the Apple that got humans into so much trouble. It all makes sense to me now!
What would have been perfect, is that the first iPhone came out a couple of weeks after this strip ran. People on the internet had dubbed it the “Jesus phone”. Combine that with the MacBook on man’s lap and God, you would have had the perfect setup.
I remembered it. A great one. Thanks for the reprise.
Hey Dan, great update of an old classic. Here’s another compelling rendition of same scene, also rich with meaning and insight for our modern lives. http://bitsandpieces.us/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/imagesMichelangelo-21st-Century.jpg
That is gorgeous and inspiring. Beer instead of angels. My life has been changed, thanks for the link!
This is one of my favorites, so much so it’s been my desktop picture at work for the past year or so :-)
WOW! A great compliment. Thanks!
That was always one of my favorites too! Feel like it is a great commentary of our times.
How Bizarro! Just today my sister mentioned the original painting this is based on, after I had stretched to pass some jaffa cakes to her. What is so divine about thou Dan is that you can take something which is a period classic and turn it into a comic, modern art, and wordplay all at once.
Turns out Adam is searching up cures for muscle cramp.
Awesome. Just awesome.
How about one where Jesus is texting while walking on water?
I predict a picture in the future about Adam and Eve being tempted by an Apple (if you haven’t already done one.)
I’ve done a couple of different cartoons on that theme that I can remember. There may have been one or two more that I’m forgetting. :o)
This is a non sequitor but I just discovered that you offer Trading Cards and I tried to order some. Japan isn’t listed as one of the countries to ship to. I tried to contact the shipper but i need to supply my info, including my address which I can’t provide.
Any ideas as to what I should do? Apart from moving, that is.
I’m sending you an email to get you hooked up. Thanks for your interest!
Art in Heaven. Good one, and of course it’s an Apple computer.
Ha! Thank you.
Hello Dan.
May I please use this comic as my facebook cover photo. I feel that it will help me get laid. Thank you very much. :)
Yes, you may. I’m nothing if not an adequate wing man.
