A Wasted But Amusing Life

Bizarro is brought to you today by Life!

I have mixed feelings about the Internet. On the one hand, it is clearly the most life-changing and useful tool that human kind has invented since the wheel. (Thanks, Al!) On the other hand, because of it, we all lose years of our lives looking at mindless entertainment like cute cats, funny videos, and porn. Am I glad I grew up in a time before it was available? Yes; I spent a lot of time outdoors exploring the world from micro to macro, which I would not have done had I been given access to a computer. Now that I have it at my disposal, would I want to live without the Internet for even a single week? No. Not a chance. Back away from my computer or I’ll stab you with these scissors.

Perhaps the answer is somewhere in the middle. Maybe I’d waste less time if I could find a site that offered funny cat porn.

This cartoon was a collaboration with my good buddy and cartoonist colleague, Dan McConnell.

Or unfunny cat porn, as the case may be.

(The cat’s unfunny, not the porn, of course!)

I agree with you on this. I used to spend my time leaning about mountain ranges of the world beginning with the letter A and all types of Texas trees. Now with the internet I spend entirely too much time looking at things I probably shouldn’t.

When I pulled onto the the info superhighway in ’95, the first ailurocentric site I bookmarked specialized in “kitty porn”. It featured cats in compromising positions, the nasty bits tastefully pixelated. It’s long gone, but I remember it fondly.

First Amendment, I kneel in your presence. Surveillance drones, go look for crop circles.

Give it about another 6 months, someone will DEFINITELY make a cat porn site based on humor.

On a second side of you comments, there is an excellent book out called “Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-deficit Disorder” by Richard Louv. Haven’t read it, but friends said it was great, and it’s gotten very good ratings. Check it out sometime, I plan on it when my life stops being so busy. So in about a years time, haha.

You wouldn’t want to go a week without the internet? Then don’t move to the country or a small town. Our internet in this small, Virginia town I won’t name was out for five days a few weeks ago. I felt as if I were living in a cave!
